Welcome to The A Shaw Thing Chocolate Fountain Hire, where indulgence meets elegance! We are a passionate couple based in Thurrock, Essex, and we are thrilled to bring the joy of chocolate fountains and candy floss stands to your special events.
Our journey began in 2024, when we officially launched The A Shaw Thing Events Business. What started as a personal hobby of styling and personalising items for family and friends’ events—along with our own wedding—quickly grew into a full-fledged business. From designing and styling intimate gatherings to creating bespoke event decor, we found our calling in making every celebration unique and unforgettable.
A pivotal moment in our journey was when we styled a 60th birthday party and provided a beautiful dessert table, featuring personalised treats that left everyone talking. This event sparked the idea to create The A Shaw Thing Chocolate Fountain Hire, a service designed to offer the magic and fun of chocolate fountains and candy floss stands without the stress or mess of handling them yourself.
We believe that every event deserves a touch of sweetness, and we’re here to provide just that—effortlessly. Whether you're planning a wedding, birthday, baby shower, or any celebration, we take pride in bringing a fun and delicious experience to your guests. When you hire an AST Fountain, we provide luxurious Belgian chocolate in your choice of white, milk, or dark. Along with the fountain, you'll receive an array of re-filled dipping items, skewers, plates, and napkins. A dedicated staff member will be on-site to maintain the fountain and assist guests as needed. If you’d like, we can also colour the white chocolate in a variety of vibrant shades, including red, yellow, pink, orange, blue, or black. ( Please note coloured chocolate will come at a charge of £20)
For any additional hours required there will be a charge of £50 per hour
Any additional dips and chocolate after the booking can be left with you to enjoy as we do not re-use and pride ourselves on providing fresh dips and chocolate.
All of our Chocolate Fountains are regularly PAT tested and we have full public liability insurance.
Our uniformed assistants will be available throughout your event to ensure everything stays clean and tidy, keep the chocolate and food replenished, and assist your guests—especially children—whenever needed. All of our staff are fully trained in health and hygiene practices and are friendly, approachable, and eager to help.
To set up the fountain for your event, we require access 1 hour before the start time, along with a power outlet nearby. We recommend placing the fountain away from open windows and doors. We also need a level surface and ground to set up on to ensure the smooth flowing of the chocolate goodness. We bring everything needed for the setup, so once you book with us, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the event.

The booking is confirmed based on the information provided by the hirer. Any changes to the details on the booking form may result in additional charges.
A non-refundable deposit of £70 is required to secure the booking, though it can be transferred to a new date if we are available.
The full balance for all bookings must be paid 14 days prior to the event date.
The fountain will run for 2-3 hours, depending on the package chosen. Any extra time will incur an additional charge.
We will need access to the venue 1 hour before the dipping starts to set up and melt the chocolate.
Please note, we cannot set up a chocolate fountain outdoors unless it's placed in a closed marquee away from open curtains, as any breeze will affect the flow of the chocolate.
Each fountain, when fully loaded with chocolate, can weigh over 120 lbs. We will require a sturdy, level table and will provide a black tablecloth. The hirer is responsible for ensuring there is enough space at the venue for the setup.
A 240V power socket should be located as close as possible to the fountain's location. If the fountain is positioned in the middle of an open area, trailing cables may be necessary. These will be taped to the floor where possible, but we cannot accept responsibility for any accidents. We recommend that guests access the fountain from one side only, positioned at the edge of the room.
We will require parking at the venue and easy access for unloading our vehicle. If no parking is available, the hirer must provide an alternative.
All packages include re-filled dipping items, calculated based on each guest consuming up to 2 skewers with 6 items.
In the event that AST Events is unable to fulfill the booking due to circumstances beyond our control, such as equipment failure or inclement weather, a full refund will be issued.
